Hi Everyone,
Show season is in full swing now – between all the recognized events and the schooling shows, I’m sure most of us are keeping busy! Be sure to keep sending in your qualifying scores as you get them, and not wait until the end of the year, so I can get an idea of how many year-end awards to order as we get closer to the annual awards luncheon.
Event camp is just around the corner — new dates for camp will be March 26-27 at the beautiful Oakmont Equestrian Center in NW Ocala. (check out their website www.oakmontequestriancenter.com ) Mark your calendars and wait for the upcoming notice next month regarding opening day for entries and further information. We are very pleased to announce our instructors for this year’s camp:
Hilda Hick Donahue will be returning again this year for cross-country. She has taken time out of her incredibly busy schedule of coaching, training, competing, and endurance riding all over the world to return this year to teach cross-country again.
Christa Gandolpho, owner of Oakmont Equestrian Center, will be teaching the stadium jumping phase. Christa is an upper-level event rider who trains with Clayton Fredericks,and has just recently taken over the job of coaching the UF equestrian team.
Jeanie Clark, from Ocala and helps organize the POP shows at the Fla. Horse Park, will be teaching the dressage phase. Jeanie is an ICP-certified instructor in all phases.
We look forward to an exciting camp this year at a new venue!
In other goings-on, there are several upcoming events, including Parrish Oaks 3-phase and the hunter pace at The Oaks on February 6th . Rocking Horse is having their recognized event this weekend . Check our FHTA calendar on our website (www.floridahorsetrialsassn.com) for all other venues/dates.
As most of you have heard by now, Canterbury is back under the management of Carlie Evans and is open for schooling. There are stadium courses set up, and still some cross-country jumps in place for schooling. We have scheduled a “Paint Day” for Saturday, February 20th to paint the hunter ring jumps in return for a free schooling for those who come to help paint. Plans for future jumper shows, derbies, and combined tests are in the planning stages as well.
