Our annual FHTA Awards Luncheon was held in August at the Hilton Hotel in Ocala. Over 100 guests enjoyed a hot buffet lunch, an annual Event-Free Raffle, door prizes, used tack sale table, vendor’s tables, and our fund-raising silent auction which brought in over $4000!! Our luncheon speaker was Dr. Carol Clark,DVM , from Peterson & Smith Vet Clinic in Ocala, who gave us updates from the USEA Cardiovascular Research Studies.
We’d like to thank our sponsors for the luncheon — Partners of the Park, Rocking Horse Stables, Horse Shows in the Park, USEA, Dover Saddlery, Equestrian Events, Inc., OBS Feeds, Tack Shack of Ocala, County Saddlery, and Cavalor Feeds.

Our silent auction was a huge success — several wonderful items were donated by sponsors and members. The proceeds from the auction are used for our operating expenses throughout the year, and with the help of our generous sponsors, we are able to offer nice, useful year-end awards to our members.
The Alicia Wishard Memorial Award was presented by Kaite Nighthorse in memory of her mother, Alicia. This award is given to a non-competing person who doesn’t necessarily show competively but helps us become a better organization through volunteering time and effort. We appreciate so much all that this year’s recipient, Brett Rice, has done for us (over a LOT of years!) without any complaints!
The Susan Neubauer Memorial Award is a perpetual trophy in her memory given every year to a member based on sportsmanship, competition, promoting FHTA to the public, and working behind the scenes, volunteering their time and effort, going above and beyond just “being a member”. This year we awarded the trophy to Trudy Richardson, of Tallahassee, Fl.
