FHTA is a 501c3 educational non-profit with a mission to improve rider skills, horsemanship, and safety in the challenging sport of eventing and the related disciplines. Our members are riders of all ages and experience levels from across the state. Since 2003, we have been hosting camps, clinics, and seminars that are affordable for all. We work with organizers to create an online calendar of eventing-related shows and help them recruit volunteers. Emailed newsletters help members keep in touch with upcoming activities and relevant news reports. Members benefit by earning achievement awards for scoring well at over 30 FHTA-sanctioned recognized and schooling venues. Due to our longstanding commitment to growing the sport of eventing at the grassroots level, many top national and international trainers and riders provide us with their expertise during these activities. We support our mission and keep fees low with donations from vendors and donors, with all-volunteer labor! Our Annual Awards Luncheon provides members a chance to socialize, bid on donated items, and hear from top members of the eventing community.
2026 Event Camp Recap
2026 Camp PhotosCamp was a great success with the help of our knowledgeable instructors Chris Cox (taught the Green Beans), Janet Andrews (taught the Starter group), Patricia Deasy (coached a Ride-A-Test for the and then judged our CT at the end of camp), Ava Wehde (taught the groups on cross-country), and Autumn Schweiss (helped riders with their show jumping skills).
There was a discussion at Saturday’s lunch about rules, with Technical Delegate Carol Ogden asking questions to test our members on their knowledge of the rulebook. Then at our dinner Saturday night, we were entertained by our guest speaker, Sydney Steverson (local social media celebrity @bookipsies_). She gave a hilarious recap of her eventing career, which drew a lot of laughs from her audience!
Campers stayed Sunday afternoon and rode in a Combined Test, riding their dressage test they’d practiced and jumping a stadium round that they’d run through during their riding sessions. The weather was beautiful (the rain held out!), the food was excellent (provided by Board members Lori Rice and Chris Aytug). Ronnie DiMauro grilled burgers and hot dogs for dinner.
